SCREENED TOPSOIL

Our screened topsoil is natural and processed using our state-of-the-art equipment. This process allows the consumer to enjoy a product that is free of debris and very easy to work with.

If your garden soil is poor or has been removed during home construction, you can purchase new topsoil ideal for growing plants. Or use topsoil as an ingredient in soil mixes for containers or raised beds.

If your existing soil is really bad (like cement) or you live on sloping ground, consult us for advice prior to purchasing topsoil.

If your existing soil is workable enough to be tilled, instead of buying topsoil, consider working in 3 to 4 inches of organic matter such as compost, or top dressing.

Make sure you know how much topsoil you need before having it delivered. Measure the area to be filled, figuring in the depth. You can compute the total amount of topsoil needed or let us do the math. You can also see our Price List section for a coverage hint chart. Think about where you want the topsoil dumped. If it'll be dumped in the grass, spread the soil within about a week to avoid killing the grass.

WARNING: Spreading topsoil can aggravate problems with drainage and water runoff. Make sure that you provide for proper drainage and that the grade slopes away from your home. Consult us if you need help.

TOP DRESSING

Top Dressing of Lawns is beneficial. It encourages new basal growth of the grass plants - giving a thicker sward of grass. Top Dressing is also a good way to 'level out' the bumps and hollows in an uneven lawn.

Top dressing is normally carried out in mid spring. It can be done at any time in the growing season (March-October), but a dressing in the spring soon 'disappears' under the resultant lush lawn growth. It is recommended to aerate the lawn before topdressing.

Lightly spread the top dressing mix over the lawn. It's better to do several light applications, 1/2" to 1" depth throughout the season, rather than one heavy application and risk smothering your lawn. Remember to allow existing blades of grass to poke through soil.

TRIPLE MIX

Triple Mix soil is perfect for gardens and any areas that suffer from poor soil quality.

Triple Mix is a mixture of three equal parts of topsoil, peat, and compost. It is commercially as a means to amend a variety of poor soil conditions. Generally used for establishing or maintaining gardens and flower beds. Can also be used on lawns. Make sure you remove any rocks, leaves, and other debris before adding Triple Mix. Prepare the soil by first turning over old soils, then add Triple Mix and mix in.
