FOR CARE OF NEWLY LANDSCAPED PROPERTY?

Following these simple tips will make your gardening life easier year after year, and years of enjoyment.

WATER
Plants and trees should be well watered immediately after planting. Follow up watering is recommended about twice weekly for a month or so. Occasional watering may be required in the first year during extended dry periods.

FERTILIZER

Plants are usually fertilized when planted. To encourage growth the following year, fertilize lightly in the early spring with 10-10-10 type fertilizer or approved equal.

PRUNING

Most shrubs should be pruned annually to enhance natural shape and remove undesirable branches. The best time of year to prune most deciduous and evergreen shrubs is in late June or early July. Sometimes clusters of the same type of plants may grow together to form a mass. Trees may also be pruned if their growth becomes irregular.

MULCH

Bark mulch should be replenished every year or two as required to remain effective.

STAKES

Tree stakes should be removed after 1 year minimum, but should not remain after 2 years.
